Who We Are

Eldest Daughter Foundation is a nonprofit committed to telling stories that too often go unheard. We believe in the power of film and creative expression to reveal the truths carried by women, cultural outsiders, and those navigating survival economies and generational weight.

Our work champions storytelling that is bold, emotionally layered, and unapologetically from the margins. We support films and programs that challenge dominant narratives, making space for voices historically silenced or stigmatized.

What We Do

Our programs put storytelling to work- as art, dialogue, and survival.

Film Production

EDF produces mission-driven films that center on underrepresented voices and challenge dominant narratives.

Community Screenings

We host screenings and dialogues in community spaces, creating opportunities for audiences to connect, reflect, and engage with the work.

Supporting Filmmakers

Beyond our own productions, EDF uplifts other artists through fiscal sponsorship, mentorship, and direct financial support.

Whether by contributing to a feature film, providing seed funding for shorts, or hosting community screenings, we create pathways for underrepresented filmmakers to bring their visions to life.

About the Founder

Artist and filmmaker Sara Rose Moustaid, the eldest daughter of a Moroccan immigrant father and an Armenian-American mother, founded EDF. Growing up between cultures and carrying responsibility early, she developed a deep commitment to stories of survival, resilience, and transformation.

Her vision for EDF is simple but urgent: to ensure that artists on the margins have the space, resources, and reverence to tell their stories on their own terms.
